The Dance of Two
In a quiet village nestled between two great rivers, there lived a young woman named Leora. She was known for her kindness, always willing to listen, to help, to hold space for others. But in the stillness of the winter air, Leora felt a longing deep inside—a quiet voice whispering, “Where do you belong?”
One evening, as she sat by the river, an elder approached and sat beside her. “The river flows with grace, yet it knows its own course,” the elder said. “You, too, must learn this balance.”
Leora sighed. “But how? I feel pulled in so many directions, always tending to others, yet I lose myself in the process.”
The elder smiled and reached down, tracing patterns in the water. “Love and support are beautiful gifts, but they must flow both ways. Just as the river shapes the land, the land must also guide the river’s path. You must learn to set boundaries, to define your own shores.”
Leora watched the river’s gentle flow and began to understand. Love is not only about giving—it is also about receiving, about standing firm and honoring one’s own needs.
Over the next few weeks, Leora practiced speaking her truth with kindness. She learned that by setting gentle boundaries, she did not lose connection with others; instead, she deepened it. With each “yes” and each “no” spoken from her heart, she discovered a newfound strength—the balance of giving and belonging.
Reflection:
February teaches us the mastery of balance—knowing when to support and when to step back, when to listen and when to speak. The lesson of this month lies in honoring your needs while nurturing the connections around you. True harmony comes when we find the courage to belong fully—to others and to ourselves.
