February’s Energy & A Kundalini Yoga Practice for Balance, Self-Love, and Expansion
Sat Nam, dear ones,
A new month brings new energy, new opportunities, and a fresh invitation to align with our highest selves. February calls us to cultivate balance, nurture relationships, strengthen our intuition, and deepen our connection to self-love.
This is a month to refine the dance between giving and receiving, action and surrender, strength and softness. It invites us to trust the flow of life, embrace sensitivity as a strength, and move with grace and inner power.
To support this harmonizing energy, we turn to two powerful Kundalini Yoga practices:
- Kriya for Prana-Apana Balance – to harmonize our life force and awaken Kundalini energy.
- Kriya for Creating Self-Love – to open the heart and develop a nurturing relationship with ourselves.
Let’s explore how these practices help us move through February with clarity, love, and resilience.
February’s Energy: The Dance of Balance and Love
This month encourages us to:
✔ Balance giving & receiving – Let go of overextending yourself and allow support.
✔ Cultivate patience & trust – Honor the unfolding process rather than forcing outcomes.
✔ Honor emotions without drowning in them – Sensitivity is a gift when channeled with awareness.
✔ Strengthen relationships (including the one with yourself!) – Authentic connections bring fulfillment.
✔ Tune into intuition & inner knowing – February invites deep listening and alignment.
To move with this energy, we need practices that bring us into equilibrium, ground us in self-love, and help us navigate relationships with grace and wisdom.
Kriya for Prana-Apana Balance: Cultivating Energy Flow
Why this Kriya?
When prana (life force energy) and apana (eliminating energy) are in harmony, we feel clear, stable, and energized. This kriya removes blockages, strengthens the navel center, and supports inner stability—helping us flow through February’s themes with ease.
How to Practice:
1️⃣ Celibate Pose & Breath Awareness (2 min)
- Sit between the calves and ankles, hands relaxed on thighs.
- Breathe naturally and settle into stillness.
2️⃣ Raising & Lowering Buttocks (7 rounds, clap overhead on the 8th)
- Stretch arms parallel to the ground, palms up.
- Inhale for 6 counts while rising to kneeling, hold for 12, then exhale for 6 as you lower.
3️⃣ Pedaling on Back (2.5 min)
- Lie on your back and lift legs 1.5 feet off the floor.
- Pedal in a bicycling motion.
4️⃣ Leg Raises to 90° (30 sec hold, then lower)
- Inhale, raise legs to 90°, hold, then lower with exhale.
5️⃣ Stretch Pose with Breath of Fire (1 min)
- Lift legs 6 inches off the ground and hold with Breath of Fire.
6️⃣ Arching Spine on Stomach (10 rounds)
- Lie on your stomach, clasp hands in Venus Lock behind, inhale, arch up, hold, then exhale and lower.
7️⃣ Arms Raised with Breath of Fire (1 min, followed by tension release)
- Raise arms to 90°, palms facing each other, hold with Breath of Fire.
- Inhale, make fists, clench teeth, and slowly bring fists down with energy.
8️⃣ Relax & Listen to Heartbeat
- Focus at the navel point, feeling the heart’s rhythm.
- Mentally chant Ong, Ong, Ong, connecting with the universal creative energy.
✨ Effects: This kriya balances physical, emotional, and energetic flow, clears stagnation, and enhances clarity and courage—perfect for February’s inner alignment and relationship themes.
Kriya for Creating Self-Love: Expanding the Heart & Aura
As February also carries the energy of deep connection and love, this kriya is a powerful tool for developing self-compassion, opening the heart, and radiating love to the world. When we are in balance with ourselves, we can give and receive love effortlessly.
How to Practice:
1️⃣ Reverse Adi Shakti Kriya (Self-Blessing) (11 min)
- Sit in Easy Pose, right palm 6–9 inches above head, blessing yourself.
- Left elbow bent, hand facing forward, blessing the world.
- Breath: Inhale for 20 sec, hold for 20, exhale for 20.
2️⃣ Arms Extended Forward (3 min)
- Arms stretched straight ahead, palms down.
- Breath: Long, slow, deep breathing.
3️⃣ Arms Raised Straight Up (3 min)
- Palms face forward, elbows straight.
- Breath: Continue long, slow, deep breathing.
- To End: Inhale, hold, stretch arms upward, tighten all muscles, exhale. Repeat 3x.
✨ Effects:
- Part 1: Aligns aura, clears subconscious blocks, and resets self-worth.
- Part 2: Strengthens the heart chakra, building resilience and emotional stability.
- Part 3: Expands your ability to give and receive love, increasing openness to abundance.
