Teaching Honesty Without Shaming
Share
Have you ever asked a student, “Why didn’t you tell me the truth?”—and seen their eyes dart down in fear?
In Akara Numerology, the 13/4 is our Heart Number in June. It represents the challenge and gift of radical honesty. Not the kind of honesty that pushes or demands—but one that makes space for truth to rise.
But honesty can’t bloom in pressure. It needs space. It needs emotional safety.
The Problem with “Truth = Trouble”
Many children learn early: telling the truth leads to punishment.
So instead of being honest, they protect themselves. They lie, withdraw, or freeze.
But when we invite truth with grace, students learn to share even when it’s hard.
💡Try this instead of “Why didn’t you tell me?”
→ “Thank you for being honest. Let’s find a way through this together.”
Honesty Is a Nervous System Skill
Students must feel safe in their bodies to speak their truth.
The arc line plays a vital role here—it reflects both our internal alignment and our capacity to hold space for others.
You don’t teach honesty through lecture.
You teach it through energy, modeling, and making it safe to be real.
