How easy is it for you to say no without explaining yourself?

Many of us worry that saying no will disappoint someone. We explain ourselves, soften the answer or sometimes say yes while something inside us is clearly saying no.

And every no is also a yes to something else.

No to another commitment can be yes to rest.

No to someone else’s expectation can be yes to your own truth.

No to what drains you can be yes to what nourishes you.

With the double 8 energy of August, use your breath when setting a boundary feels uncomfortable. Pause before responding and notice what your body is telling you.

But today also asks us to look at boundaries from the other direction.

How do you respond when someone says no to you?

It is easy to interpret another person’s boundary as rejection. But their no may have very little to do with you.

Perhaps they are tired. Perhaps they need space. Perhaps they are finally learning to listen to themselves too.

Can you allow their no to be theirs without making it mean something about your worth?

Healthy boundaries don't have to disconnect us.

When they are communicated with love and respected with maturity, they can create more honest relationships.

Sometimes the most loving answer really is no.
