Give Yourself Time to Heal
Have you ever tried to make an important decision while you were hurt, disappointed or emotionally overwhelmed?
In those moments, we often want an answer immediately.
Should I stay? Should I leave? Should I say something? Should I let it go?
But when your heart is hurting, your mind may not be the clearest place from which to decide.
Today, give yourself permission not to know yet.
You don’t have to rush into a decision simply because something feels uncomfortable.
Sometimes you first need time to heal.
Create some space around whatever has happened. Allow yourself to feel what you feel without immediately turning those feelings into a decision about your future.
And be gentle with yourself.
When we look back, it can be easy to judge ourselves for choices we made in the past. With everything you know now, perhaps you would choose differently.
But you didn’t have today’s wisdom then.
Forgiveness can begin with recognizing that you made your choices with the awareness you had at that moment.
The same can be true for someone else.
Forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending something didn’t hurt or saying what happened was okay. It means you don’t have to keep carrying the experience in exactly the same way.
Give your heart some room.
Give your mind time to become clear again.
Then, when you are no longer deciding from the deepest part of the hurt, you can ask what comes next.
Healing first. Clarity second. Decision third.
