Week 31 July 27 - August 2 | Fill Your Own Cup First

Week 31 July 27 - August 2 | Fill Your Own Cup First

Fill Your Own Cup First

Sat Nam dear friend,

Have you ever noticed that when you're tired, everything suddenly feels harder?

A small problem feels enormous. Someone asks you for something and you feel irritated. You want to be there for everyone, but somewhere inside you hear:

I have nothing left to give.

That is the invitation of this week.

Week 31 carries 12/3 as the supportive number and 14/5 as the overall energy.

The 12/3 asks us to change our perspective, while the 14/5 asks us to find freedom through balance.

Together they remind us that caring for others should never mean continually abandoning ourselves.

When your cup is full, giving can be joyful. When you keep giving from emptiness, everything starts to feel heavy and blocked.

Before you push harder this week, come back to yourself.

Put your hand on your belly, take a breath and ask:

What do I need right now?

Then listen.

Supportive Number 12/3 — Change Your Perspective

When we're depleted, our perspective changes too. Things can look much more difficult than they actually are.

Before deciding something is wrong, check in with yourself. Do you need rest, nourishment, movement, laughter or simply a little space?

Sometimes changing your energy changes how you see the entire situation.

Overall Number 14/5 — Find the Balance

The 14/5 wants freedom, movement and experience, but true freedom also means knowing your limits.

You can care without carrying everything.

You can help without always saying yes.

You can be there for others while still listening to what your own body needs.

That balance is where your freedom is this week.

A Glimpse of the Week Ahead

Monday — Stop Pushing
Notice where you're forcing something. Breathe, create space and allow life to meet you.

Tuesday — Shake Off What Isn't Yours
Release old tension and focus your energy on what is possible instead of what has held you back.

Wednesday — Align Yourself First
Clear the mental noise and remember that you don't have to prove your value. Your presence can be enough.

Thursday — Fill Yourself with Joy
Nourish yourself, move and laugh. When you uplift yourself, that energy naturally reaches others.

Friday — Find Joy in Commitment
Create structure around something that supports you. A loving commitment to yourself can become a source of joy.

Saturday — Try Something New
August begins with double 8 energy. Breathe deeply, stay present and give yourself permission to experience something differently.

Sunday — A No Is Also a Yes
Honor your boundaries without guilt, and don't automatically experience someone else's no as rejection.

Reflection for the Week

Where am I giving from emptiness when I need to fill myself first?

Weekly Affirmation

I listen to my body and honor what I need. I fill my own cup with love, breath and joy, and from my fullness I give freely.

“When your cup is full, you can give. But when you have to give from emptiness, there is simply nothing to give.”

This Week's Practice

This week's Kundalini Yoga practice is New Lungs and Circulation, supporting the breath, circulation and navel. The teaching connects the flow of the breath with our emotional base, making it a beautiful practice for restoring yourself when you feel depleted.

For meditation, I recommend Meditation to Clear Subconscious Blocks, particularly for working with underlying fear and old patterns that may be consuming your energy.

Weekly Mantra

Aad Sach, Jugaad Sach, Hai Bhay Sach, Naanak Hosee Bhay Sach

This mantra is traditionally given for those moments when something feels blocked or simply isn't moving. Instead of pushing harder, return to Truth and create space for movement to happen.

Take This Into Your Week

You don't have to wait until you're completely exhausted before taking care of yourself.

Notice the earlier signs.

And before assuming that life needs to change, ask whether you need something.

Rest. Breath. Nourishment. Movement. Joy. Connection. Silence.

There is no universal answer.

The practice is learning to listen.

Many blessings,

Sat Kirtan Kaur Khalsa

Sat Nam 🙏
