A Prayer for September
Beloved Breath of the Infinite,
Guide me through the quiet turning of this season.
Help me to see the beauty of where I am —
Not for what it could be, or what it was,
But for the sacred now.
Let what no longer holds life in it fall away with grace.
Let old stories rest in peace,
So my hands can open to what wants to arrive.
May I make peace with myself.
Peace with others.
Peace with the path that brought me here.
Let forgiveness rise in me like a tide.
May it soften the spaces within me
That have gone rigid with time and disappointment.
May it reach the parts of me still protecting old wounds.
May it flow into my closest relationships —
Creating clarity, creating calm, creating care.
Where I’ve tried to hold it all together,
Let me be held.
Where I’ve tried to control,
Let me surrender.
Let the longing I feel not isolate me,
But return me to the truth:
That I belong.
I belong to this earth.
To this breath.
